Known for its iconic nickname as the “Pineapple Capital of the Philippines”, our travel destination for today is a place that beautifully combines abundant agricultural scenery, a thriving culture, and breathtaking wonders into one big tourism gem. The place I’m talking about is none other than Mindanao’s precious jewel, Bukidnon.
A lot of amazing things can be said about Bukidnon as both seasoned travelers and beginners can definitely take away a lot of things from their exciting experiences in the province. For one, it is said that Bukidnon is like the Baguio City of Mindanao because of its cooler climate due to higher altitudes. It’s also the reason why Bukidnon is coined the “Fruit and Vegetable Basket of Mindanao” as the cold weather allows the province to produce abundant supplies of native agricultural products.
Oh, and I’m sure that you’re intrigued by the origin of the name of Bukidnon province itself, right? Well, the name “Bukidnon” can be translated into the term “highlander” or “mountain dweller”. It can also be related to the Tagalog term “bukid” which means a rice field or an agricultural land dedicated mainly to farming. You can say that’s exactly the reason why Bukidnon is extremely rich and thriving in several agricultural products! Aside from being blessed with agricultural superiority, Bukidnon is also known for having spectacular natural wonders that are truly must-visits. And guess what? That’s exactly what we’ll be doing today.
